thegetAwayZ is a European travel podcast about traveling through Europe from the perspective of two Americans who live here.
We’re Erin and Lisa, friends and roommates who moved from the U.S. to Europe in 2017. Since then we’ve traveled all over Europe, usually by car. Erin’s son Dylan has been part of those trips for years and still comes with us while he’s in university. Lisa’s dog travels with us too, so we regularly talk about what it’s like to travel around Europe with a dog.
Most episodes are about places we’ve actually been. We talk about where we stayed, what we ate, what we loved, what we’d skip and the things we wish we’d known before we went. Sometimes that means a big city, sometimes a road trip, sometimes Christmas markets and sometimes figuring out whether driving somewhere was actually a good idea.
We travel a little differently than we did when we first moved to Europe. We care more about where we stay, how much we can realistically fit into a day and whether something is actually worth the effort to get there.
